Business vs. Professional attire?
At the end of this month, I am heading to Maryland for a big interview. They are flying me and paying for hotel. The first day is registration and a dinner, and the next day will be interviews. The dress code for Thursday (1st day) is business, and Friday is formal business attire.
I have 2 suits so I could wear 1 each day, but I do not want to be over-dressed. Also, I would like to give a more formal impression in the interview. Here is what I was planning…
Thursday- khaki pants, boat shoes, nice light blue dress shirt, tie, navy blue blazer
Friday- full suit (pinstripe/charcoal)
I will be with possible 200 other candidates with about 80 actually being hired.
Sounds perfect! Unless the word “casual” is thrown in there anywhere, I would definitely stick with the tie and blazer on Thursday.
The full suit on Friday sounds perfect. Make sure your shoes are polished and use some whitening strips on your teeth if you need them, too! It may just give you the edge over other candidates. In times like these, appearance may be the determining factor.
