Research on marine/land diesel engines? 150hp?
I’m looking for a diesel engine around 150HP or 100hp-200hp that I intend to buy at a junk yard And rebuild my self. My problem is I’m having trouble finding a engine that matches two of my questions. I want it to match marine manifolds that all reedy exist, and fair priced. And I also need to be sure it can match up with a inboard drive. The manifolds, and Drive need to match a Engine and not a boat. Basically turning a land engine into Marine. It also must be mechanical fueled injected, and (was/parts still) made USA.
Hell of a wish list and that is why I’m asking.
Mercruiser uses Cummins and Mercedes diesels (also fits Volvo) and are also direct replacements for gas engines so I assume that these diesel engines match the Mercruiser or Volvo exhausts that have the GM cylinder head port pattern and flywheel housing bolt pattern.
To match up the inboard drive, inboard drive lines (straight shaft) have the Forward/reverse gear box mounted to the flywheel housing, these also have the GM bolt pattern as many inboard gas engines are GM.
You did not say if you already have some drive and what brand?
I would look for a diesel engine with the GM flywheel housing and cylinder head port matching pattern.
